Good afternoon NEA-Jurupa family,
I would like to say thank you to all of you who were able to attend our Special Rep Council Meeting today. We were extremely fortunate to have visits from CTA President, Toby Boyd, and CTA Board Member, Sergio Martinez. They shared about happenings at the state level and just wanted to thank our members for all that you’ve done in adjusting to our currently reality.
Additionally, we shared information surrounding the reopening of school and what that might look like. Ultimately, the decision is up to the school board and the Association will negotiate the impacts on our members. There is still a lot of unknowns. There is a district committee comprised of NEA-Jurupa and CSEA Jurupa members, JUSD trustees, students, parents, and community members, that is looking at how to safely and responsibly reopen. As more information becomes available, it will be shared. Another survey will be coming out in the next few days and it is extremely important that we get as much feedback as possible.
In the meantime, if you haven’t had the chance to call or email your legislators to ask for a “no-cuts” budget, there is still time. Information can be found on this link.
Finally, Rep Council approved, without objection, a statement in support of Black Lives Matter. Below is the statement as well as a list of resources, learning opportunities (links to trainings are in the document), and a survey for interested members.
For those of you who are interested, the JUSD Board will be meeting on Monday, June 22nd, at 6 pm. I will share the link on Monday.
Thank you as always for all that you do and for your grace, kindness, patience, and understanding throughout this unprecedented time.
Best to you and your loved ones,
Respectfully-
Wendy Eccles 🙂
