Checking-In/Updates

Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,

Happy Friday (and three-day weekend)!!! I hope your week has gone well. I just wanted to provide you with a few quick updates as we head into the weekend.

The Association continues to work with the District to address concerns, resolve issues, and find solutions to many of the things that our members are dealing with. Both Parties are committed to a collaborative effort (now and ongoing) as we continue to navigate our current reality and the challenges facing our staff and students.

CONGRATS TO NVHS FOR BEING NAMED A MODEL CONTINUATION HIGH SCHOOL FOR 2022! Let’s give a huge shout out to our amazing Certificated Staff there!

COMMUNITY SCHOOLS RESOLUTION: On Wednesday, Rep Council passed the attached Community Schools Resolution without objection. The State will be rolling out the process for applying for Community Schools Grants (planning and/or implementation) in the next couple weeks. This is an amazing chance for our Association to really be involved in transforming some of our schools into ones that our staff, students, and community deserve. If you are interested in learning more, please click on this link and feel free to reach out to me or your site reps for any additional questions you may have. The CDE Proposed Framework gives additional information. A special thank you to CTA Vice President David Goldberg, CTA District K Board Member Sergio Martinez, and our CTA Primary Contact Staff John Vigrass for attending Rep Council.

HEALTH AND SAFETY UPDATES: Please refer to the email sent yesterday by Daniel Brooks with the most up-to-date information. We may be hearing more in the next few days from the Governor if there are any changes that impact TK-12 schools, but most likely those will be reevaluated at a later date. We will definitely keep you posted.

SECONDARY START TIMES: In accordance with SB 328, start times at the high schools will be adjusted beginning in the 22-23 School Year. An email update from Susan Worley on behalf of Trent Hansen regarding the District’s planning stages was sent out yesterday.

To our Elementary folx, enjoy your “work from home” afternoon! To everyone, please have a wonderful three-day weekend, enjoy the Super Bowl (and commercials and half-time show) and your Monday off (HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY)! Please continue to stay safe and well 😊

And to echo Trent, GO RAMS!!!

In Unity-

Wendy Eccles 🙂
