Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,

Happy FriYay!! I hope your week went smoothly with transition to 4 days of in-person instruction. Only 5 more weeks to go! Thank you all so much for everything you do each and every day! Our School Board President, Karen Bradford, asked me several times at the board meeting to extend sincerest gratitude to all of you as well.

RETURN TO IN-PERSON MOU: Questions have come up about the Physical Distancing requirements. Although CDC guidelines have changed, our MOU clearly states 6 ft (and that will not change for the remainder of the year). I have attached the MOU again for reference. If you reach out to your site administration and they do not address the issue, please let me know and I will reach out to the district. Additionally, you can use this link to report a COVID concern.

EQUITY SURVEY: Please consider filling this survey out for NEA-Jurupa’s Equity Team. It will help to inform us going forward. Thanks to all of you who have already completed it 😊

NEGOTIATIONS: Our Bargaining Team has dates set to meet with the District: May 7th, May 13th, May 14th, May 18th, and May 27th. Updates will be provided by our Bargaining Chair, George Monge.

NEXT YEAR: The district plans to open up “normal” next year, with full in-person instruction. There will also be a virtual program for families who choose to enroll. These are separate programs, so there will be no hybrid type of instruction. The Association is currently negotiating an MOU with the District regarding staffing and working conditions for the Virtual Program. More information will be coming in the next couple weeks.

“Everybody has gone through a traumatic year, so transitioning back to in-person settings is not just ‘plug the machine back in and go.’ We have to create spaces to learn, process, and heal”- Heather Calomese, California Special Education Division Director.

Best to all of you! Please continue to stay safe and well!

In Unity-

Wendy Eccles 🙂
