Rep Council Tentative Agenda and Other Updates

Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,

I hope that you had a restful weekend and that your week is off to a good start… Thank you all so much for your continued patience and grace as we have started off this school year. Things are changing so quickly (again…) and we are trying to stay on top of everything we can.

My apologies in advance for the long email. I continue to have regular (almost daily) conversations with the district as concerns come in, especially related to COVID protocols and contact tracing. Please be on the lookout for an email from Daniel Brooks for important information from the District.

Our first Rep Council meeting is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, August 25th, at 3:45 p.m. via Zoom. Reps will receive the Zoom Link and Rep Council Materials around 2:00 on Wednesday. If you have specific concerns, please get those to your site reps, area director, or me. We will be meeting with the District for our monthly Contract Management meeting on Thursday, August 26th.

The Tentative Agenda, Meeting Calendar, and approved NEA-Jurupa Committees are attached above for your reference. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please let me know. We need a representative from PHS for the Scholarship Committee and would love to see some secondary folks on Grievance.

Questions have come up about sick leave related to COVID. All employees have been “forwarded” 80 hours of supplemental COVID Leave (it’s on your paystub under the regular leave portion). This leave was granted by the state and expires on September 30th. In the event that you need to use the leave, please report the absence as sick leave and then contact the HR office to alert them that you will need to use the COVID leave. Here is more information on the leave for your reference.
