Checking-In/Updates

Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,

Welcome back (for three weeks)! I hope that you all had a relaxing and rejuvenating Thanksgiving Break and that you were able to find some time to unplug and unwind. As we head into the final three school weeks of 2020 (and the end of first semester for secondary), I want to again say THANK YOU to all of you for your continued empathy, grace, kindness, patience, and understanding. It’s going to be hectic and don’t forget to set boundaries. You need to take care of you and your loved ones.

Just a few quick pieces of information/updates:

RETURN TO SCHOOL SURVEY: The survey will close tonight. If you haven’t had a chance to complete it, please take the time to do so. Here is the survey link. Results from this survey will be used to guide discussions with the District for when we come back in January.

*Please note- our current MOU is in effect until June 30^th, 2021 AND we will NOT be physically returning to school until State Guidelines allow. Additionally, the JUSD School Board has the final decision as to when we return in accordance with guidelines.*

NEA-JURUPA VIRTUAL PAINT AND SIP NIGHT: Our first ever Virtual Paint Night will be this Friday, December 4^th, from 4-6 pm. Thank you to all of you who have already signed up, we are so excited for this event!! If you are planning to attend, please sign-up no later than tomorrow, December 1st, using the Eventbrite Link. We will send you a confirmation email that we received your registration and a follow up email with final event details on Thursday or Friday. Materials can be picked up at Purple Easel next to Ontario Mills and it’s super easy. If you would like to include others to participate, you can purchase materials through Purple Easel OR pick them up on your own (I purchased additional paint at Purple Easel for my family, we have all of the other supplies at home)!

CTA CONFERENCES: There are several upcoming “Home Edition” CTA Conferences available to CTA members for FREE. They begin this upcoming weekend with the LGBTQ+ Conference and next weekend with New Educators Weekend. CTA Conferences have amazing sessions for all members. I encourage you to check them out here. Additionally, CTA has implemented a new benefit for members who attend the virtual conferences, a chance to earn University Credits at no cost! For those of you who want to move over on the salary schedule, this is an awesome opportunity. This link provides more information.
