Greetings NEA-Jurupa family,
Happy Friday!!! I hope your week has gone well. Only one more to go!!! Thank you for all that you do each and every day to support your colleagues, students, staff, and the community at-large.
Just a few quick announcements:
JUSD School Board Meeting: Monday, December 13th at 6 p.m. at the Ed Center. Please note that the link looks different from before, but all pertinent information is still there.
Trustee Area Maps: The Board will hold its final Public Hearing on the transition from At-Large to By-Trustee Area Elections. They will be voting on a resolution to select and adopt one of the proposed maps.
Bargaining Survey #2: Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. It is based on the results of the initial one from November. Based on the results, the Association intends on opening Articles VI- Safety, VII-Hours of Duty, VIII- Class Size, and XV- Extra Compensation. We are also soliciting feedback on Article XII- Transfer and Reassignment. The survey will be open until Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
District Equity Survey: This will be open until Friday, December 17th. The more participation by staff and parents, the more accurate picture the district will have. Please consider sharing it with your students’ guardians/parents through your normal modes of communication. Currently, parent participation at this point is pretty low.
Independent Study: In September, the guidance for Independent Study changed (again). I have attached an RCOE presentation for reference. Short-term IS can be from 3-14 days, 15 days or more is considered long-term. For IS requests, there is an electronic Master File Agreement. If you receive a request, all you need to do is to refer to your PSL page. It’s also important to note that work must still be collected and at least one sample per subject must be uploaded (if work is turned in/completed). Here is a Short Term Independent Study Resource that you may find of use.
For next week…
Elementary: Per our 2018-19 Tentative Agreement, the first minimum day of each school year and the Wednesday prior to Winter Break will be designated for teacher planning/preparation time. Please make sure that your site admin doesn’t have meetings scheduled next Wednesday.
Secondary: “Friday, December 17: All Secondary sites will be closed and all staff should work from home.”
“Middle—Teachers may work from home during the late start period before school begins on Thursday, December 16.
High—Teachers may work from home after students are released on the days scheduled for finals in December, December 15 and 16.”
These comments come straight from the email sent by our Superintendent on 10/13/21.
I hope you all have a restful weekend (not sure if that’s possible at this time of year)! Best to all of you and your loved ones. Please continue to stay safe and well (and warm!).
In Unity-
Wendy Eccles 🙂
