Greetings NEA-Jurupa family,
I hope you had a restful week off and that your week is going well! Only 12 days until a much needed 3 weeks off!!! Thank you again for your compassion, empathy, grace, kindness, patience, and understanding as we continue to navigate through our current reality.
This applies to all of our educators…
Just wanted to provide you with a few quick pieces of information:
On behalf of the Member Engagement Committee:
Paint Night Registration Info: Click on the image to get registration link. Please indicate whether you will be attending in-person or virtually. For those who choose to paint virtually, we are working with Purple Easel so you can swing by to pick up your supplies (for those who register for this option, you will receive a separate email with information). We look forward to seeing many of you there 😊 It will be a wonderful evening!
New NEA-Jurupa T-Shirt Design Contest: It’s time for an update and we’re excited to see what our members can come up with! We are extending the deadline to December 10th 😊
Proposed By Trustee-Area Maps: The final hearing will be December 13th. Following the hearing, the board will vote for one of the three proposed maps.
Upcoming Virtual Conference: There is still time to register for CTA New Educators’ Conference-Home Edition! December 9th-12th. CTA is offering Free University Credits for members attending conferences. This is great for those of you looking to move over on the salary schedule!
Minority Leadership Incentive Scholarship: Members interested in applying for this scholarship to the Region IV Leadership Conference, April 22-24 in Costa Mesa, need to submit the application by December 10th by 5 p.m.
CTA IFT Grants: The application window for this grant (up to $5000 for individuals, up to $20000 for Impact Grant- two or more individuals) is from 12/01/21-03/31/22. Grants will be for the 22-23 school year.
CTA Scholarships: CTA offers annual scholarships for both members and their dependents. Application windows are opening now and deadlines vary based on scholarship.
Keenan Safe Schools Training: This is required by State Law to be completed every two years. Those who have not completed the training since 19/20, will be required to do so by January 31st, 2022.
Here is the text of the email sent out from the District (Jessica Forsberg) before the break:
“In 2019 our office announced the changes in the state requirements for the sexual harassment training. The training is now offered through Keenan SafeSchools and is required to be completed every two(2) years. This training replaced the DVDs that were previously sent to sites and departments.
If you are receiving this e-mail, it means that you completed either the supervisory level training (120 minutes total) or the nonsupervisory employee training (60 minutes total) back in the 2019 – 2020 school year and now are required to complete it for the 2021-2022 school year.
This mandatory training is now available via Keenan SafeSchools online training system. This training must be completed by January 31, 2022.
The login to Keenan SafeSchools is your employee ID located on your paycheck stubs. Sample instructions are attached.
*Once you have completed the training you DO NOT need to send the certificate in to our office.
Please contact Human Resources if you have any questions or concerns.”
Hope you have a great rest of the day and week! Thanks for all that you do each and every day! Best to all of you and your loved ones. Please continue to stay safe and well.
In Unity-
Wendy Eccles 🙂
