Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,

 

I hope you all had a restful weekend! Only 4 more weeks to go! As this longest school year ever continues to wind down, THANK YOU again for your compassion, empathy, grace, kindness, patience, and understanding. You are sooooooo appreciated!

 

 

UPDATES:

 

21/22 NEA-Jurupa Committees: If you are interested in serving on one of the Association’s many committees next year, or if you are currently serving and would like to continue (or not), please let me know. Committees include: Grievance, LCAP, Elections, Member Engagement, Organizing, Political Action, Safety, and Equity.

 

CALSTRS Videos: Thanks to everyone who was able to attend our CALSTRS Virtual Workshop last week. We plan on having additional workshops in the fall. If you are interested in CALSTRS Member Benefit Education, there are some great informational videos here. Attached above is a My Retirement System document that was shared at the workshop.

 

Negotiations: Updates will be coming from our Bargaining Chair, George Monge, after the team meets with the District.

 

*SPSL COV19 hours on your paychecks: California extended COVID Leave Benefits through Sept 30, 2021. The leave was credited to all staff in the event that you need to use leave for COVID related reasons and it won’t impact your other leave time. For more details about the leave, please click here. Here are the CDC’s Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People.

 

Virtual School for 21/22: JUSD is planning on offering Virtual Options for families/students next year (and for the foreseeable future). The Association and District are putting the finishing touches on an MOU which will address Staffing (using Transfer Language from contract), Hours of Duty, Work Location, Class Size, Technology and Training, and Supervision and Evaluation. The Executive Board has received a copy of the MOU and is currently reviewing it for approval.

 

May is Mental Health Awareness Month: RCOE is excited to announce their upcoming RCOE SEL/Mental Community of Practice!  They will continue the CoP during the summer months with a summer series around Dr. Michele Borba’s book, Thrivers: The Surprising Reasons Why Some Kids Struggle and Others Shine. The first 100 participants to register will receive Dr. Borba’s book for FREE!
