Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. In these uncertain times, I can only imagine the anxiety and stress than many of you are under. I feel those same things. It’s been quite a challenging experience in what I consider to be the longest month of March in history.
Thank you to all of you who have continued to reach out with your concerns and questions. My apologies if I haven’t responded to an email yet, the days are filled with meetings, emails, and phone calls in response the constant flow of information.
Yesterday, the MOU Committee met with the District Committee (Daniel Brooks, Dave Doubravsky, Paula Ford, Trent Hanson, and Denise Hernandez). We discussed many of the concerns that our members have brought forward as we proceed to begin the 20-21 school year. No decisions have been made, but the Association did present a draft MOU to the district to further drive negotiations. The teams will be meeting next Monday and Tuesday to discuss further.
Items that were discussed include:
•Flexibility in work location (school v home)
•Work/instructional day/possible bell schedules
•Evaluation cycles
•Providing students/families with necessary instructional materials (including printed materials, consumables, textbooks, supplies)
•Services to special populations
Please rest assured knowing that your Association is working diligently to protect your contractual rights and working conditions. We will continue to keep you updated as things progress. Please remember that no agreements have been reached, that this is a work in progress. It’s our goal to have an MOU in place as soon as possible. We are all in this together.
Best to all you.
In unity,
Wendy Eccles 🙂
