Greetings NEA-Jurupa Family,
I hope that you were able to have a restful weekend. I’ll make this one quick (but, of course it’s long) as there is quite a bit going on this week…. As always, THANK YOU for all that you do!
Several items have been attached above including: Representative Council Tentative Agenda, Return to In Person Survey Results, and the most up to date “List”. As was stated last week, I will be sharing the Survey Results in my Public Verbal Comments tonight and will be forward the results and updated list to the district and school board. This allows for our members to be heard.
TONIGHT’S SCHOOL BOARD MEETING:
Again, here is the link to the Board Meeting on Monday, March 8th
Open Public Session – 6:00 p.m. Join Meeting: https://youtu.be/cKsKV76u5Ns
The meeting will be in-person with limited capacity in order to follow physical distancing guidelines.
PUBLIC COMMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Public Comments won’t be able to be submitted online until the link opens at 3:30 (one hour before beginning of closed session). Please note that comments will be limited to 90 minutes. Public Comments will be heard AFTER the In-Person Instruction Presentation.
Public comments may be made in person and also accepted online, the link will open one hour prior to the start of Closed Session, the electronic comments link will close at the beginning of the public verbal comments period. A staff member will facilitate the reading of public comment submissions, consistent with the direction of the Board during “Public Comments.”
Public Comment Submission Form (English): https://forms.gle/C2v7ytjSKc8MvSoA7
Pursuant to JUSD’s Board Bylaw 9323, each public comment submission will be allowed 3 timed minutes, and comments will be limited to a total of one and half hours per topic, if there are multiple people wishing to comment. Pursuant to Section 54954.2 of the Government Code, no action or discussion shall be undertaken on any item not appearing on the posted agenda.
As per the community letter sent out on Wednesday, the Board will be hearing the plan for returning, but will not vote until Wednesday, March 10th at a Special Meeting set to begin at 5:00. We will still hold a virtual Representative Council meeting that day, but will adjourn promptly at 5 in order for those who choose, to be able to listen to the meeting.
In addition to the presentation of the Reopening Plan (Item #3 on Agenda), the district will also be bringing forth the Academic Calendars for the 21-22 and 22-23 school years. You may remember from a couple years ago, the board approved (and then approved a changed calendar) due to the fact the school year was to end on a Monday. THE REASON THAT THE CALENDAR WAS CHANGED WAS DUE TO THE IMPACT ON PAYROLL/WORK YEAR and the district did not want to impact disbursement of pay. These recommended calendars have us ending on a Monday & a Tuesday. The reason for this is also because of payroll/work year reasons for both certificated (mostly 10 month employees) and classified (mostly 11 month employees). I know they’re not ideal. The calendars have been attached above for your reference.
Once the link has been shared for Wednesday’s Special Meeting, I will send that out.
Wishing you all well. Please have a good day!
Wendy Eccles 🙂
